Certified Advanced Doula Specialist (CADS)
Antenatal, Postpartum, and Birth Certification+
A Certified Advanced Doula Specialist (CADS) is a doula who has achieved certification in both antenatal/postpartum and birth, showcasing a comprehensive skill set across all stages of childbirth. This certification signifies that the holder has undergone advanced training, equipping them to provide outstanding support throughout the childbirth process and effectively navigate complex healthcare environments.
In addition to their extensive childbirth support training, CADS professionals have received additional education in key areas including communication skills, cultural competency, and trauma-informed care, which are essential for addressing the diverse needs of families during critical times. They are also trained to handle sensitive situations with care, such as those involving grief. This holistic approach ensures that CADS are well-prepared to deliver a high standard of care, making them invaluable in any birthing setting.
Certification must be renewed every three years for a fee of $100. Continuing education is required for renewal. You can read more about that process here: https://www.doulaversity.com/re-certification
Most CADS will be able to accept Medicaid more easily within their state due to the additional communication and cultural competency skills that are included in this bundle.
Many insurance and Medicaid organizations also require a hands-on training (or workshop) of at least 24 hours. DoulaVersity does offer in-person doula trainings and gives a discount to all current students. Please contact Trisha@doulaversity.com for upcoming workshops in your area.
